Following on from my previous post about Smart
Excuse me?! I hear you say… Bosch? Smart Homes? Are you sure? Well I agree with you, before I was approached by them a few months ago, I have to admit that my knowledge of Bosch extended to power tools, such as the cordless drill I own, garden appliances such as lawnmowers and pressure washers as well as home appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers and vacuum cleaners. Add into that the windscreen wipers and spark plugs and my knowledge ended there.
I was blown away by actually how many components, electronics and areas in which Bosch operate…
DID YOU KNOW….
- Bosch is the only company worldwide that is active on all 3 levels of IoT: Sensors, software, services
- Bosch MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) sensors can be found in 3/4 smart phones and 75% of consumer electronics
- More than 40% of Bosch product categories are web enabled
Bosch actually has over 19 different divisions working on everything from those mentioned above, through to themotechnology, security systems, all things car such as multimedia systems, car electronics, starter motors and even gasoline and diesel systems.
Bosch have recently conducted a twitter survey in six different countries on the preferences for Smart Homes with a global consensus that many were unaware of the current possibilities of a smart home with 31% of those www.isotretinoinonlinebuy.com/cheap-accutane.html surveyed have never even thought about a connected home before.
Of those countries surveyed (Germany, France, Great Britain, Austria, Spain and US) the most important selling point was actually the saving of energy through things such as heating switching off automatically as soon as windows are opened.
With people always on the move nowadays as well as an increase in travelling, the second main consideration was going on vacation or leaving the house without worry and smart home developments such as sending alerts to your phone if an intruder breaks into your home as well as triggering a live camera, smoke alarms to sound as well as taking of photo’s are areas many were interested in.
It wasn’t all just rosy though, many were worried about high costs, as well as data protection and privacy, with the latter being a major concern. As with many of these being accessed over the internet the worry was that at any point these could be hacked and used negatively against the user.
I’m going to be looking into some of Bosch’s forthcoming Smart Home products in Germany to see how these match up to both my own and the survey’s results and report back next week?
You can follow my trip to Bosch’s HQ as well as a sneaky peak of their upcoming products over on my Instagram or Twitter feeds next week so be sure to give me a follow.
Are you aware of Smart Homes? Do you have any products at the moment? Have you got any concerns? Leave your comments below and I’ll be sure to ask them next week….
Until next time
Jim
