Having been super privileged to have been invited to the LEGO
We were lucky enough to be sent one of the larger sets to review in the form of the LEGO Ninjago Movie 70616 Ice Tank. Coming in close to a 1,000 pieces (917) and which 5 mini figures and the fact that the box was HUGE were couldn’t wait to get stuck in… so much so I did record a build of the set only for my battery to run out during the final parts without me noticing!! #BloggerFail
I decided to build this one alone following the children being in bed and overall it took just shy of 2.5 hours (this included the odd break) so would expect it to take considerably longer if any of your newly qualified younger master builders were to build it.
Having compared it to many of the fantastic movie vehicle builds I’ve built in the past such as the LEGO Batmobile or the Scuttler, I would say I was a little underwhelmed with this. Although its a really great size and looks fantastic, the actual playability of it seriously lacks. The Ice Tank does come with a side multi stud shooter and is on tank buy zithromax uk like tracks which as they move around a rotating ice container (which contains a couple of ice bricks) on the back spins, however that is pretty much as far as its features go.
Looking at the vehicle you are instantly drawn to the two large wing type features pointing upwards. I was half expecting these to open up and maybe reveal a further gun or compartment however the only thing these do is tilt ever so slightly, almost like bending your own ears back and forth.
The mini figures are great though thanks to including Ninjago Zane, two bad guys in the form of Shark Army Thug and Angler as well as Patty Keys (features in previous Ninjago animations) and new character Torben.
The build itself is pretty technical so will definitely float your boat if you enjoy a good testing build however I was left down with the playability from a personal point of view, that said it certainly didn’t stop D enjoying some good play time when she saw it the next morning, she is certainly quickly becoming a LEGO fan like H and I.
The LEGO Ninjago Movie 70616 Ice Truck is available now priced at £79.99 alongside some fantastic looking sets which I’m sure won’t disappoint. A great build, just not great on playability.
We are all still massively looking forward to the LEGO Ninjago Movie and can’t wait to take the family to see it.
Until next time
NB: We were provided with a complimentary LEGO Ninjago 70616 Ice Tank in exchange for an honest and open review. All opinions remain our own.
