Review | Skip Hop Chelsea Downtown Backpack
Over the last 7 years we have had our fair share of changing bags, from the newborn days through to now when the kids are 7 and 3, we still use a variation, albeit now more of a backpack than change bag. Over the last couple of weeks we have been reviewing the Skip
Skip Hop all began circa 2003 by two new parents when searching for a change bag that was fashion-savvy and super functional, particularly for the on the go city life. Over the last 15 years Skip Hop has become increasingly popular for various designs of bags, such as typical change bags but infamous with their Zoo range children’s bags, (even suitcases) and more recently extending that range into meal times through both lunchboxes as well as plates and cutlery. Throughout Skip Hop priding itself on the balancing of modern design and functionality.
Typically as the kids have grown up, less is the need for change mats, bottle insulation and multiples of nappies but more… food, snacks, drinks and the occasional change of clothes for D… just in case. That said, Mrs F certainly wants to regain her love of hand bags etc without looking like she’s prepped for the next poonami. The Skip Hop Chelsea Downtown backpack looks to bridge that gap by designing something which is practical yet stylish, we are all about the organised life, with lots of pockets so this bag is perfect.
- The backpack style of bag allows you to have both hands free, super important with a baby or toddler to look after;
- Stylish design with gold zip detailing;
- Lightweight and durable fabric;
- Stroller straps to hang neatly on your pram;
- very spacious inside with a number of compartments for a change of clothes and them all important snacks;
- Two bottle holders on the sides of the bag, these are fab and really deep, perfect for larger drink bottles.
I love the bag and would definitely recommend, the only negative I would say is that it has a small clasp to close the bag, which is rather fiddly to fasten. If your anything like me and in and out of your bag for snacks/drinks throughout the day, the clasp becomes a little tedious, even more so if you have a younger child, this would not be very convenient for parents on the go. However, the bag does also have a drawstring fastening, which is really firm so this would be sufficient rather than using the clasp fastening all the time. I would much rather have seen a magnetic clip or push stud.
Overall the Skip Hop Chelsea backpack is a really good bag for any parent on the go, be it a newborn or like us looking to phase out having to carry an array of things but when we do, it can still look like we are stylish as well. The Skip Hop Chelsea Downtown Backpack could even double up as a perfect work bag with it’s spacious design with plenty of room for your laptop.
