Review | Num Noms Lip Gloss Truck
Back when I was a child I used to love collectable toys; things such as Micro Machines, Football stickers, Pogs and marbles were all high on my list and I’m glad that despite advances in technology, our children are just the same. I’m talking about Num Noms, these cute and gorgeous smell squishy characters are one of the things D loves playing with and loves to collect. That love has just been taken to a whole new level with the introduction of the Num
Despite my attempts to encourage otherwise, D is vastly wanting to explore new things, I’m talking Make Up. I’ve seen many a videos on Facebook and Twitter of other parents children plastered in make up and dread the time when that happens here… probably not as much as Mrs F does as her expensive make up will be the obvious victim. That said I’m happy for D to explore herself as long as its safe (and supervised) as that curiosity of a child is something which is both scary yet magical in equal measure.
Num Noms have been out for a while now so if you haven’t seen them, you may have certainly have smelt them. These little rubber characters are stackable shells but also coming with them are plastic inner shells which allows them to move around like ladybug type creatures. They come in both visual and blind bag varieties so are great for children who like to know what they are getting but also for those who like the surprise element too.
The current series is all based around cupcakes and sweet smelling aroma’s and alongside this they have released a Num Noms Lip Gloss Truck to add to its collection. It’s important to note that you don’t get any individual Num Noms with this set to add to your collection. What you do get though is a fascinating and fun kit to help make some of those lovely smelling scents you’re used to on Num Noms but in the form of safe to use Lip Gloss’.
Included in the kit is a good sized truck when on it you’ll find your very on pot of plain lip gloss. The pot is a good size, enough to make I’d say around 10 lip glosses in all. You also get two flavourings, Cherry and Vanilla as well as some bitter sprinkles to really enhance your finished lip gloss creations.
To store your created lip glosses in, there is also three small Lip Gloss Sundae containers with Num Nom lids as well as a larger cupcake container for making bigger batches.
D (and H) had loads of fun making their own lip glosses and using the flavour bottles to create the scents. It did need adult supervision though as obviously the warmer the lip gloss goes the more waxy it goes so Mrs F was on hand to make sure things went to plan.
The process involved cutting some plain lip gloss out of storage pot adding it to your cupcake casing where you can mix in flavours and sprinkles. Finally popping the finished creation into the ice cream dispenser on the truck and pushing it through into the Sundae pots ready to use.
We did find popping the finished creations into the fridge a little after creating meant it was back to usual lip gloss consistency. It also meant that D particularly didn’t end up with a face covered in soft lip gloss but both children had great fun with the whole process.
The good thing to note that even though the set is aimed at the lip gloss creation element, the ice cream truck can also be enjoyed on its own with your usual Num Noms as it has moulds in the front which fit your Num Nom cases so can really enhance your children’s collections.
Num Noms will definitely be another staple on the Christmas lists this year for us but what about you? Do your little ones love collectables? Do you have a favourite Num Nom? Let us know in the comments below.
Until next time
