Celebrating Halloween with a Scooby Doo Sleepover
Zoinks! The clocks have now gone back and if its not dark before you get home from work, it will be shortly. As much as I love the summer, I equally love Autumn / Winter too and the dark nights are definately and excuse to get all cosy and enjoy a movie night in.
The rush we experience every night as a family to get home, eat tea and then commence bedtime routines means we don’t really get much time with the little ones in the week so we make sure we maximise weekends squeezing in as much as we can from Friday evening through to Sunday night. One of those things we do more regular now is movie nights in with H. I won’t lie, they tend to be on a Friday night as it leaves Saturday nights for Mrs F and I but we all love getting into our PJs night and early and settling down with some treats, a blanket and a good film.
When Warner Brothers offered to send us a Scooby Doo Sleepover pack to coincide with Halloween and their release of the LEGO Scooby Doo! Haunted Hollywood Movie on DVD, I ‘jumped’ at the chance (sorry!). H was like Scappy Doo when he saw the box (Let me at ’em) and was excited to explore the goodies inside…
Inside the box was:
- A Scooby Doo Onesie from Rubie’s Masquerade (RRP £23.99)
- A plush Scooby Doo Teddy from Character Options (RRP £5.99)
- An official Scooby Doo magazine from Panini (RRP £2.99)
- A selection of Scooby Snacks (sweets)
- LEGO Scooby Doo! Haunted Hollywood Original Movie DVD (Warner Brothers) (RRP £13.99)
Having had a quick look through the Panini magazine, which comes complete with several comic Scooby stories, fun activities as well as some great competitions and the magazine also comes with some Halloween themed scary toys such as fake worm and maggots. H took great pleasure in realising his sister wasn’t too keen on the worm and tormented her as much as he dared.
We settled down to enjoy the LEGO Scooby Doo movie alongside our very own Scooby, his plush teddy and some Scooby snacks (well popcorn and crisps but I couldn’t resist a Scooby pun again).
H loves Lego as I’m sure you are aware but equally the LEGO movies as they seem to retain his interest as well as being based on well known characters from films or cartoons elsewhere. Without giving too much of the movie away, as you’d expect with Scooby, Shaggy and the gang you can expect plenty of mystery as well as ghosts with a fun LEGO twist. Scooby and the Mystery Inc gang are invited on a tour to Hollywood’s Bricktown Studio’s only to get there and find some spooooky going’s on. It was a great family movie and it definitely won’t be the last time we watch it if H has anything to do with it…. in fact as I write this we are on our 4th showing of the weekend.
As for the plush toy and onesie, well they will be handy for more movie nights to come.
Until next time
NB: We were sent the Halloween Sleepover goody box as detailed above in exchange for an honest review, all opinions remain our ooooooooooooooooown.
