Review: Baby Bjorn – WE Baby Carrier
When I was invited by Baby Bjorn to attend their recent product launch of the WE baby carrier, I was gutted to be double booked with work commitments and therefore wasn’t able to attend what looked like a fantastic day. So when Baby Bjorn asked if I’d still like to review their new WE, I was more than happy.
We used multiple carriers and slings with H when he was younger and the only one I was personally able to enjoy using was made by Baby Bjorn. Unfortunately, Mrs F being the wheeler dealer she is, sold it on once H got older as I’m told these retain their value very well (in baby product trading circles).
So now we have D, I’m keen to revive my baby carrier experience as although pushchairs and prams can be fine for long walks or trips out, baby carriers are great for the same things and means you can get around a lot quicker without hassle.
The Baby Bjorn family have been designing products for over 50 years so have plenty of experience in what makes a good baby carrier. The new WE carrier is not only suitable from birth, due to excellent head, back and hip support features, but it also has 3 front and back carrying positions so as your little one gets older, they can continue to explore whilst you are out and about.
With previous carriers that I have used, it becomes a massive exercise just putting the thing on, however with the WE it feels like I’m putting a jumper on as its just an over the head job and then clipping the excellent lower back support in place and you are ready to use.
The clips which help to secure your little one in place are also easy to operate, meaning that if you are on your own, this is more than easy to use. The fabrics used are not only free from health hazardous substances and conform to Oeko-Tex standards but are clearly premium as they feel so secure giving confidence this will more than last for the 3 years it can be used for.
We first tested this out at our recent village “Christmas lights switch-on”, which, given our previous years experience, we knew taking a pushchair was a no go as the pure footfall means you have no hope of shuffling along with the crowds and also the worry that baby D would feel quite scared being lower down away from us whilst all she can see is darkness and legs. Having strapped her into the WE, within minutes she was looking round and exploring. In the same length of time, she had also fell asleep close to daddy whilst the rest of us enjoyed the switch on as well as a visit to Santa with H. I look forward to using it over the coming months including the annual Christmas Day walk.
