22 Things To Do Before You’re 1.4 Metres at Alton Towers Resort
The other week we were lucky enough to be visiting our favourite local theme park, Staffordshire’s very own Alton Towers Resort. In between enjoying the delights that are Splash Landings, The Rollercoaster Restaurant and CBeebies Land Hotel we were also asked to check out something a little different. Alton Towers have designed a fun and different mission for all those under 1.4m this summer, aptly named, 22 things to do before you’re 1.4 metres.
Typically you might find yourself locked into the thrills and spills of the rides when you visit the massive theme park but if like us, how often do you find yourself riding the Sky Ride whilst taking in the green, leafy and spacious garden areas which ultimately leads to a conversation about how much Alton Towers Park is alongside the rides.
Well this summer in order to help aid your discovery of hidden areas, features you’d never noticed as well as the all familiar rides, Alton Towers have produced a mini mission aimed at the smaller family members and produced a booklet with 22 different tasks (and a couple more) to try and complete during your time at the park.
22 Things to do before you’re 1.4 metres is a free booklet and is available at the Trading Towers Co. (to the left after you enter) anytime prior to 3pm. From there you can then set off trying to tick as many tasks as possible off over various parts of the park, primarily between CBeebies Land and Mutiny Bay (just in case your little legged children don’t fancy taking in the 910 Acre park in its entirety.
Along the way there are a couple of tasks which result in interacting with some of the friendly park staff in exchange for a sticker to add to your booklet something which H really enjoyed, throwing the Wicker Man host a high 5 before bravely (or naively) agreeing to go on it with Daddy…. (Its amazing although I’m not sure H will be back on it again for a while).
By using the booklet, it also meant Mrs F and I managed to persuade the children to go on different rides to what we would normally go on (CBeebies Land x 1000) such as the Rapids, Duel and Battle Galleons which was a real pleasure for all of us as both Children enjoyed them as well.
There’s also some educational activities as well such as finding the time on the CBeebies Clock or playing Hop Scotch in Big Fun Show Time as well as looking out for the colour of the Chinese Pogoda in the gardens so a real great mix.
The great thing about the 22 things to do before you’re 1.4 metres is that it can be done alongside your usual routine and doesn’t have to be at the detriment of your love for certain rides as well found that thanks to many of the tasks not being too far away, you could tick of a few in quick succession before refocusing on the rides.
Alton Towers are really keen to see how families get on in their mini missions so are using the hashtag #AltonTowers22Things on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the chance to win a family short break as a reward.
We managed to achieve a respectable total of 21 in our mission pack, only missing out on a 22nd after forgetting to count the Frogs in Towers Street on our way out, something which H was devastated about so if anyone knows the answer, drop it in the comments below.
Are you planning on visiting Alton Towers Resort this Summer and will you be taking part in the 22 things to do before you’re 1.4 metres mission? If so don’t forget to tag us (or more importantly @AltonTowers) and you could be winning a Family Short Break!!
Until next time
NB: We were provided with fast track passes in exchange for this review however all opinions are our own.
